Career Pathways
The landscaping industry offers diverse and interesting careers but don't take our word for it - check out what participants have to say across all industry sectors on the tabs below!
Steven - Landscape Designer
From a young age I had a love of plants and understood the pleasure being in a landscaped environment brings. I wanted to work in an industry which allowed me to create those environments and make a difference to people’s lives.
Jamie - Landscape Designer
What drew me to the industry goes way back when I owned a company in another industry which was stressful with long hours and had grown over the 10 years I was involved to include 70 employees, 2 business partners and a diverse range of businesses. I would go walking through the amazing Hunter Valley Gardens and the peace and wonder I felt walking those gardens gave me the incentive to retrain as a landscape designer and sell my former business share.
2021 Landscape Industry Apprentice of the Year - Construction - Aiden
Aiden started at Landscape Solutions in 2019 having previously tried a variety of other trades such as plumbing and painting and quickly realised that the landscaping industry was where he wanted to be, fulfilling his desire to work outside with a hands-on industry.
Philippe - Landscaper
I was at Gatton Agricultural College (studying beekeeping) and I started doing garden works at my parents’ home. I enjoyed it and went from there to work on a turf farm and then started basic landscaping in Brisbane.
2021 Landscape Industry Apprentice of the Year - Parks & Gardens - Jaiden
Jaiden has been interested in nature and the outdoors from a young age and commenced working at Brooke’s Blooms in 2019. Whilst committed to learning and self-improvement he couldn’t see himself studying at Uni right now but is aware that further study options in the landscaping industry are available to him in the future.
Carl - Landscaper & Arborist
I left school and started working a few different jobs. It was then I met a landscaper and arborist and started working for them. I discovered I really had a passion for horticulture, and I never looked back.
Mark - Environmental Landscaper
I became disillusioned in my prior role in construction and wanted to change my career path, I was inspired by my grandfather who was a brilliant gardener and used to take me with him working in the grounds of stately homes when I was a child.
