The Landscape Certification Scheme
Landscape Queensland Industries Inc has developed this Landscape Certification Scheme (LCS) for individuals who operate in the landscape industry. Certified Landscape Professionals benefit personally by advancement, career development and recognition of professionalism in this dynamic industry.
The hallmark of a true professional is to meet technical standards while maintaining the highest ethical behaviour and dealings. Certified Landscape Professionals adhere to the Goals and Code of Ethics of a Certified Landscape Professional.
Who can become a Certified Landscape Professional?
The Landscape Certification Scheme is open to all individuals who work in the landscape industry and hold qualifications at trade level (Certificate III) or higher. This includes those employed as landscape builders, labourers and contractors, landscape and garden maintainers, landscape designers and architects, as well as landscape teachers and tutors.
Certification as a Landscape Professional means that you maintain contemporary landscape knowledge, skills and practices. Your professionalism is recognised within the industry, by peers, industry stakeholders and clents. Landscape Professional Certification status is current for two years and proof of Continual Professional Development is required to maintain your certification status.
By becoming a Certified Landscape Professional (CLP) you are committing yourself to continual long term learning in your industry – your skills and knowledge will continue to grow and develop, which enhances your career. Certification shows clients and employers that you not only have the experience and background needed to a good job, but also that you take an interest in continually improving your skills and knowledge of the landscape industry.
Certified Landscape Professional recognition means that:
- your professionalism is recognised
- your landscape skills and knowledge are validated
- you are encouraged to advance in the industry
- your commitment to the industry and its development is acknowledged
- your employers can advertise that they employ a Certified Landscape Professional, which gives them a competitive advantage
- you have use of the Certified Landscape Professional Logos to use on signage and stationary
- advertising of your Certified Professional Landscape status where ever Landscape Queensland Industries Inc displays your details
There are three types of Certified Landscape Professional:

Certified Landscape Professional - Horticultural is for individuals involved in the “soft landscape” industry, such as those involved planting and maintaining landscape projects.

Certified Landscape Professional - Structural is for individuals involved in Structural Landscaping work, that is, someone who needs a Queensland Building Services Agency (BSA) license to complete landscape works.
